- Setting up NovaLink with BBS in a BOX.
-
- Nova Link has one of the best internet access features of the Mac BBS
- systems we have tried. However the files setup takes a little work to set up
- so we have included a step by step instruction set.
-
- To Contact ResNova Call 714-379-9000 or internet at resnova.com.
-
- In order for novalink to take advantage of BBS in a BOX, these steps must be
- followed.
-
- 1) Run the NLP 3.1 application.
- 2) Under the "Setup" menu, select the "Menus" option.
- 3) Open the "Main Menu" folder by double clicking on it.
- 4) Open the "File Libraries" folder by double clicking on it.
- 5) Add a new folder and name it "BBS in a BOX." Do this by dragging a folder icon
- from the tools palette to the inside of the "File Libraries folder. Select
- a key for it too. I used "3" as mine.
- 6) Open the new "BBS in a BOX" folder.
- 7) Drag disk icons to it from the tool palette. Name them what
- ever you want. I suggest that you name them the same as the directory names
- in the Files folder on BBS in a BOX, e.g.: Apple, Art, Bus, etc... Make
- sure that you select keys for them too. The best way I've seen is to use a
- - z as your keys.
- 8) Drag a ladder icon to the BBS in a BOX folder and name it Exit. You need
- to do this with every new folder you create so command line users can back out
- of your new menus. I also set the key for my Exit menu to "E."
- 9) Close all of the menu boxes. The tool palette should disappear when you are all
- the way out.
- 10) Under the "Windows" menu, open the node you have set up for your local log in.
- Under the "Terminal" menu, pull down to the "Login Local" menu. Log in as Sysop.
- 11) Go to the File Libraries area, and open up the new BBS in a BOX folder.
- 12) Choose one of your new file directories, and open it by pressing the proper key.
- 13) Press the M key. It is not listed in the menus, but it's there anyway.
- Answer Yes to the "Are you sure you want to mass upload?" Enter "amug
- cd:files:(dirname)" for the file area. If you are in the "Apple" directory,
- it would me "amug cd:files:apple". Answer Yes to the Go into Folders
- question. Answer No to the Ask for descriptions question.
- 14) Repeat step 13 for each file area.
-
- This is a "quick and dirty" setup. It should help you, but you might want
- to customize it some more. If you are running more than 4 lines on your BBS
- we recommend that you consider copying the CD's to hard drive so that access
- times are faster when multiple users access the CD.
